“Little Dutch Blue” is simple, undated sampler stitched by G. Baan, at the age of 11 in two delightful shades of pale blue. It was stitched on a square of off-white linen with attractive banding in red and gold, which frames the alphabets perfectly and the “pop” of red, from the banding really brings the sampler to life. The edges were finished with blanket stitch. It measures 15″ x15″, and was stitched in mainly Cross Stitch over 2 with a large central alphabet stitched in Algerian eyelets, making it suitable for stitching on linen, Aida or Linaida.
The chart includes the pattern for the banding should you wish to ‘replicate’ the original linen.
It has been charted for both AVAS d’Alger silk and DMC.
